Scopt was born in Belgium, one of Europe’s strictest and most forward‑thinking energy markets. Regulations around home energy optimization, peak‑shaving, and reduced incentives for grid injection pushed us to innovate early and build algorithms that anticipate grid needs.
These conditions made one thing clear: expanding renewables and electrifying everything won’t get Europe to climate neutrality without intelligent coordination. Too much clean energy still goes unused simply because it’s available at the wrong moment.
That’s why Scopt develops smart, scalable software that aligns EV charging with the real‑time availability of renewable power. Our mission is to make clean energy easier to use at home and at scale.

Meet the founders
Kristof Borgions and Lars Cappelle have known each other for years, but their paths converged again in 2022 when energy optimization became more urgent than ever. They set out to solve a growing challenge in the energy transition: How do we make home EV smart charging truly intelligent and scalable for CPOs?
Leuven became the perfect place to build their vision. As one of Europe’s most innovative tech hubs, home to KU Leuven University and global leaders like Imec, the city offered the right environment to attract talent and grow a high‑impact software company.
Within just three years, Kristof and Lars built a team dedicated to transforming Scopt into a reliable, relatable tool that elevates home charging to the next level.
